Un court-métrage expérimental basé sur la divinité mésopotamienne gender fluid du même nom. Ishtar organise un festin dans un jardin de campagne anglais pour cinq frères et sœurs de couleur non conformes / trans / non binaires. Chaque invité détient l’histoire de ses ancêtres et de son moi actuel. Dans un effort pour affirmer leur existence historique et actuelle, le film se penche sur les connotations coloniales du genre et cherche à réexaminer la manière dont le Royaume-Uni a imposé le genre aux personnes de couleur.

Mia Georgis (also known as Mica) is a trans Iraqi-British filmmaker. Their first film Ishtar (BBC/ICA/New Creatives) has played at Bafta and Oscar qualifying film festivals & is currently streaming online on BBC iPlayer, with a director’s cut on NOWNESS. It has been featured in an exhibition at the ICA ; in an internationally touring exhibition with Contested Desires D6 Culture in Transit ; and it went on a UK wide cinema tour as part of the season Queerious programmed by Birds Eye View Films. Last year Mia directed The Devotions, an ACE funded film for the live artist Barry Fitzgerald- which has screened at Bafta Qualifying festivals Aesthetica and Cork. At the end of 2022, they curated and edited RAT Zine-an ACE funded zine of newly commissioned work from 13 UK-based trans artists, which launched at the ICA. They have a special thanks credit on Oscar winner Andrea Arnold’s most recent feature Cow. They are a representative of Trans+ on Screen, and they spoke on their behalf alongside founder Alice Blanc at the ICO ID Screening Days 2022.
