Ce documentaire raconte l’histoire incroyable et inattendue de la construction de l’Opéra Bastille à Paris. C’est l’architecte canadien Carlos Ott, à l’époque parfaitement inconnu, qui gagne le concours international pour la conception de cet édifice. Une méprise des membres du jury à l’aveugle, qui croient qu’il s’agit d’une proposition de Richard Meier. L’architecte lui-même, des membres de son équipe et Jack Lang, ministre de la Culture à l’époque, racontent cette saga incroyable, où la politique joue un rôle proéminent entre François Mitterrand et Jacques Chirac. Malgré les tensions politiques constantes durant la construction qui a duré 5 ans, l’Opéra Bastille a été livrée à temps et est à la fine pointe de la technologie grâce à la détermination de l’architecte et de son équipe.
