1340. Sachant que son royaume assiégé de Grenade est condamné à disparaître en raison de l’avancée des royaumes voisins, le sultan Yusuf Ier entreprend la construction de l’Alhambra pour refléter la splendeur de sa civilisation. Son vizir, Ibn al Khatib, poète et génie en avance sur son temps, participe à ce projet colossal. Ce docu-fiction retrace la vie de ce vizir et maître à penser de la dynastie Nasride, Ibn al Khatib en 1300. Véritable reconstitution historique, ce film nous fait vivre la reconstruction du royaume de Grenade à travers la construction de l’épicentre du pouvoir, l’Alhambra.

Isabel Fernández is an independent film director, scriptwriter, and producer, from Barcelona. Her documentaries have been on NTR, SVT, YLE, ORF, RTVE, and TV3 among others. “His Father’s Son” received a Special Mention from the Jury at Prix Europa 2010. Her first feature documentary “Long Distance Runners” (2014) was awarded Best Direction at Aljazeera International Documentary Film Festival and Best Screenplay at Europe-Orient du Film Documentaire. Her short “The Neighbor” (2015) won the Public Liberties & Human Rights Award at AJIDFF. She focuses on films that explore the borders of documentary and fiction, to foster social change.
