A Rose from My Garden
Deborah Peretz
In summer 2017, mysterious stone figures appeared along the Hudson River in Upper Manhattan. Balanced exquisitely, both powerful and fragile, the Sisyphus Stones, as they are now known, were created by Uliks Gryka. Every day, Gryka works on what he calls his “garden of creativity.” A beautiful philosophical reflection on impermanence and perseverance in the artistic process. The title of the film is inspired by a poem by Saadi, a 13th-century Persian poet.
