What does an annual subscription to the ARTS.FILM platform give me access to?

The annual subscription to the ARTS.FILM platform gives access to a selection of films, many of them available exclusively in Canada, promising an extraordinary immersion in the most original art practices in the world. Some films from previous editions of the International Festival of Films on Art (FIFA) are also available online on the ARTS.FILM platform.

How can I access the online films?

Purchase your annual subscription at ARTS.FILM’s online box office.

You will receive an access code by email.

Then you can connect to the online viewing platform to access all the films.

How can I create a customized list of films on the online viewing platform?

You can click on “Watch later” if you want to tag a film to make your own list. Then, you can find it again by clicking on the “Watch later” menu at the top of the page.

Are the films on the ARTS.FILM platform available in other countries?

The online films on the ARTS.FILM platform are available only in Canada.

Are the films available at all times?

When a film is accessible on the platform, it is available at all times. The catalogue is updated regularly.

On the ARTS.FILM platform, can I watch films from previous editions of FIFA?

Yes, some films from previous version may eventually be included on the platform.

How often will more films be added to the platform?

There will be a rotation: some films will be added and others removed each month.

Are all of the films in the program for a general public?

Most of the films are for a general public. However, viewer discretion is advised for some films. This will be noted in the description for the films concerned in the online viewing platform as well as in the film synopsis on FIFA’s website.

How can I find a specific film on the online viewing platform?

If you can’t find one film in particular, you can type its title in the search bar. You can also navigate by collection, if you know which one the film is in.

Are the films presented in their original version?

Most of the films are presented in their original version. If the original version is in neither English nor French, the film will be subtitled in one of the two official languages — French or English.

Unfortunately, it isn’t always possible to have English subtitling for a film in French or French subtitling for a film in English or another language. Often, these subtitled versions don’t exist because they’re too costly to produce.

Why does video playback stall or not play smoothly?

We use adaptive bitrate streaming, which means that the streaming quality will automatically adjust based on your Internet speed. If your Internet connection is poor or inconsistent you may experience problems during playback.

Here are some ways you might resolve the problem:

  • Connect to the Internet with a cable rather than WiFi, or move closer to your router.

  • It is recommended that you use the most recent version of the Chrome browser.
  • Close all other windows and applications on your computer.

  • Check that someone else connected to your wifi is not downloading something or watching a movie online.

The optimal download speed for watching a movie is between 10 and 20 mbps.

The FIFA cannot be held responsible for technical problems related to the equipment used or the internet connection. If the problem persists, contact your supplier.

You likely have “Screen Mirroring” turned on in your device settings. Please turn off the screen mirroring setting and start AirPlay by selecting the “AirPlay” button in the bottom right-hand corner of the player:

Why do I see a black screen if I’m watching a film with Chromecast on my TV?

Some versions of Chromecast can’t handle transitions from one video to another. If this happens, deactivate screen sharing and launch it again once film playback begins.
