Asger Jorn – Go to Hell with Your Money
Anna Von Lowzow, Lene Borch Hansen
Asger Jorn (1914−1973), a leading figure in twentieth-century Danish art, a painter, and sculptor associated with COBRA and other avant-garde movements, embodies the myth of the penniless artist who has sacrificed everything for a bohemian life, struggling under very difficult conditions and gaining recognition only late in life. Throughout his life, Jorn, who died prematurely at age 59, had a prodigious artistic output. The film pays tribute to this artist, who had unfailing faith in himself, with exerpts from his private correspondence, diaries, never-before-seen photos and videos, and interviews with people close to him.
