Conquest and Prison
Mark Freeman
Dance is a form of visual poetry. This short dance film set in Grahamstown, South Africa, has two distinct themes: conquest and imprisonment. In the two-part work, renowned choreographer Oscar Buthelezi performs, followed by dancers Lorin Sookool and Julia Wilson. The film uses the poetry of dance to relate pivotal history from this country’s tormented and complex history.
