Davide Rivalta – The Look of Innocence
Elena Matacena
An in-depth look at the creative process of sculptor Davide Rivalta, from the genesis of his works in his studio on the outskirts of Bologna to their final creation at the Di Carli foundry in Turin. We visit the sites where his animal figures are displayed: the gorillas in the courthouse in Ravenna; the monumental bronze buffalos lost in the landscape opposite the Basilica of Sant’Apollinaire in Classe near Ravenna; the wall drawings in private spaces from Naples to Paris; the bear created for the Piazza San Domenico in Arezzo. Interwoven with analyses and interviews, the film sheds light on Rivalta’s perception of the animal body.
