Écorces, récit-photo de Georges Didi-Huberman
Mario Côté
A full reading of Écorces (2011) by its author, French philosopher and art historian Georges Didi-Huberman. In the manner of a photo story, the film illustrates thought in action on the subject of the image. In his text Didi-Huberman questions, among other issues, the status of his own photographic documentation of Auschwitz-Birkenau. He also refers to the controversy surrounding the publication of his book Images malgré tout (2004), and the opposition from Claude Lanzmann. We are riveted by these spoken reflections, by the fascinating photographic images that turn into movement.
