Femmes Artistes : Jenny Holzer

American artist Jenny Holzer’s medium is language. Known for her LED signs and giant projectors, she transforms interior and exterior spaces into textual landscapes, questioning our perceptions and the ways we are influenced by media and politics. An in situ artist above all, she has installed her trademark luminous signs on city streets since the 1980s. In this episode of director Claudia Müller’s Femmes artistes series, Jenny Holzer employs her favourite techniques in an exhibition presenting the works of 24 women on a moving LED video wall. Her aim: to illustrate all the different fields and styles of female art throughout history.
