Giovanni Segantini – Magie de la lumière
Christian Labhart
Award for Best Biography, FIFA 2016
A painter, anarchist and stateless outsider, Giovanni Segantini (1858−1899) created monumental works, the majority of them in open-air, depicting idealized alpine landscapes. In his search for light he climbed higher and higher, and died at age 41 in a mountain hut in Engadin. The film looks back at his difficult childhood, his crises of inspiration and desperate fight against death.
