Program presented as part of the program Diagonals — Program 1
A collaboration between Sandy Silva and Marlene Millar, Lay Me Low expresses the shared experience of mourning. The individual voices are woven together to make one song, steps are taken in rhythm to make one walk. This traditional Shaker song performed by 10 dancers, musicians and singers conveys the universal feeling of loss as well as evoking a paradoxical sense of intimacy.
