Les Enchanteurs

Les Enchanteurs

Frédéric Laffont

Belgium, France | 2016 | 1 h 29 min
What is an Opera house? Who works there and what do they do? What ties one of the most prestigious Belgian Opera houses to society and audiences? Filmed across two opera seasons, in troubled times where culture doesn’t seem to be a priority for Europe anymore, this documentary brings us on stage and behind the scenes at the Monnaie in Brussels. At the very heart of the orchestra, in the dressing rooms or around the painters’ workshop, meet 400 individuals, sometimes visible, sometimes not, who work to make dreams become reality, night after night. Written and directed by Frédéric Laffont, Les Enchanteurs is the recipient of an Étoile de la Société des auteurs in France (SCAM) in 2017.
