Mademoiselle Eiffel rembobine
Philippe Tourancheau
Destined to be dismantled after the 1889 Exposition universelle, the Eiffel Tower today symbolizes France. Tens of thousands of visitors climb this metal structure every year. Archival documents (films, press clippings, photographs, engravings, paintings, first-hand accounts and drawings), interviews with specialists and images of present-day Paris illustrate its tumultuous history, from the initial drawings and its construction in 1887, to its inauguration in 1889, its role in the emergence of radio and television broadcasting in the 20th century and its place in art, film and advertising.
