Marianne Faithfull, fleur d’âme

France | 2017 | 1 h 1 min
Spotlight: Music. Marianne Faithfull falls within the ranks of those rare artists who do not usurp the title of icon” or legend”. Spotted in 1964 by the Rolling Stones’ manager, she skyrocketed to the realm of the rock stars of the day, where she became Mick Jagger’s life partner, sharing the band’s tumultuous lifestyle, its excesses, the scandals, and the drugs. She would then slowly fall prey to a downward spiral after her break-up with Jagger, ending up in the streets. Between 1972 and 1979, she alternated between periods of remission and relapse, struggling between dependency and momentary success. Directed by César winner Sandrine Bonnaire, this intimate portrait recounts the tale of a girl from a good family who would one day rise from the ashes and receive the artistic recognition she deserves.
