Trailer
Experience the final chapter of Matisse’s illustrious career in ‘The Cut-Outs,’ a record-breaking exhibition by The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and Tate Modern. This intimate documentary takes you behind the scenes, featuring curators, historians, and those who knew Matisse personally. Filmed at MoMA and Tate Modern, it captures the preparation and exhibition of Matisse’s sophisticated cutouts, with a spotlight on the conservation of MoMA’s prized The Swimming Pool. The film weaves beautifully filmed exhibition footage with Matisse’s biography, behind-the-scenes material, and appearances by special guests such as Tate director Nicholas Serota and MoMA director Glenn Lowry. Acclaimed actor Simon Russell Beale provides insight into Matisse’s words, while Rupert Young narrates.
