Telling the captivating story of the creation of a twentieth-century masterpiece: Lyric Suite for string quartet by Austrian composer Alban Berg (1885 – 1935). In 1925, Berg, who was married, fell madly in love with a woman, also married. Lovestruck, he composed Lyric Suite as an embodied and sensual portrayal of his extramarital affair. Intercut with a reconstruction of the love story are rehearsals of the work by the musicians of the Emerson String Quartet and commentary by Renée Fleming. A creative and original film.
