Talking to My Father
Sé Merry Doyle
Modern architecture reached a high point in Ireland in the early 1960s. A student of Mies van der Rohe, Robin Walker (1924−1991) was one of its most illustrious figures. A quarter century after his untimely death, his son Simon, also an architect, explores his father’s heritage in a dialogue spanning two eras. The landscape stretches to its horizon as Seamus Heaney recites his poem, “An Architect,” written for Robin’s wife Dorothy after her husband died.
