Jill Magid articulates an incisive critique of the commodification of art through a symbolic gesture: the artist transforms the ashes of the renowned Luis Barragán into a diamond. This object, loaded with material value, becomes the tool for negotiating with the corporate power of the Swiss company Vitra, which exercises strict control over the architect’s professional archive and his copyrights. The film confronts the appropriation of a cultural legacy by corporate capitalism and contrasts it with the immaterial value of family heritage, using the diamond as a chip in a power game that questions who owns — and who can access — the work of a deceased artist.
