Zimbelism
Jean-François Gratton, Matt Zimbel
Armed with his Leica, photographer George Zimbel (b.1929) showed less interest in celebrities than ordinary people — which didn’t stop him from photographing Marilyn Monroe, John F. Kennedy, Harry Truman and Richard Nixon. With his unique way of viewing the human experience, Zimbel is unrivalled in his ability to tell a story in a single 35mm frame. This profile is a reflective voyage through the back half of the 20th century, framed with presidents, farmers, prime ministers, railroad engineers, movie stars, children and architectural works.
