Trailer
American composer Samuel Barber’s A Stopwatch and an Ordnance Map, composed in 1940 to a text by English poet Stephen Spender, describes the death of a soldier during the Spanish Civil War. Written for a chorus of male voices and timpani, its modern version, conducted by Xavier Brossard-Ménard, skilfully depicts the terror that dominates the fighting and the feelings of the soldiers.
