As part of the series ARCHES: Ukrainian Presence, Les Rugissants presents Cherry Orchard Near the House by Yevhen Stankovych.

This pastoral work captures the tranquility of a family scene in traditional peasant life: the men return from the fields, the girls sing and chat, while the mother prepares the meal, affectionately scolding her children. The song of the nightingale joyfully enlivens this summer evening, enveloping the scene in happiness and contentment. Stankovych punctuates this bucolic harmony with complex chords, infusing vibrant nuances into a vision of timeless serenity.
