Ava (Britt Lower) is a square. When her fiancé admits to loving a free spirit named Luna (Jess Marks), Ava joins a local circus in an act of wild abandon. But the heartache isn’t easily rinsed off, and starts to feed her fear that she’s not cut out for being “wild too.” Wrestling with envy and imposter syndrome, Ava tests out a letter addressed to “the other woman.” Live action and animated body-paint interweave in this ode to healing through radical love.

Britt Lower
Britt Lower is a multi-disciplinary filmmaker and artist. CIRCUS PERSON, which she wrote and stars in, is her directorial debut and was produced by the female film collective, Greatgrandma. She plays “Helly” in the Emmy-nominated series SEVERANCE on Appletv+ and recently made her circus debut in the 2022 season of Circus Flora in St. Louis, MO. She first encountered the circus lifestyle while running a face-painting business with her mother as a teenager. She is currently developing Circus Person into a feature film with April Shih and Diversity Hire Ltd.
