Diégo Velazquez ou le réalisme sauvage
Karim Ainouz
The trailblazing work of Diego Velázquez marks a vital period in the history of painting. Ceaselessly searching for truth through light and space, Velázquez was a documentary maker before his time. The film attempts to discover what makes this Spanish Baroque painter so unique, allowing us to appreciate the artistic and aesthetic revolution he triggered. From Venus at Her Mirror to Las Meninas, the film attempts to define the powerful emotional relationship established between Velázquez and his audience, between the painter’s eye and that of the spectator.
