Hidden Letters
Jury Prize, FIFA 2023

Presented only in theatres

Bridging a gap between past and present, Hidden Letters follows two young Chinese women who come together over their fascination with Nüshu, a century-old secret language. For several generations, this language has allowed thousands of Chinese women to join an underground support system based on sisterhood, hope, and survival. Influenced by Nüshu’s message of female solidarity, these young women strive to find balance in their patriarchal culture and to forge their own path.
