Horizonte en fuga - Concert visuel

Horizonte en fuga — Concert visuel

1 h
Horizonte en Fuga is an innovative audiovisual concert conceived by Delight Lab (Chile). This unique project has its roots in the Chajnantor Plateau, in the heart of the Atacama Desert, where the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA), the world’s largest radio telescope, stands. It is in this extreme location, one of the highest and driest on Earth, that scientists and researchers come together to capture and analyze millimeter and submillimeter light, a rare and precious natural resource that holds essential information about our cosmic origins.

This immersive concert draws inspiration from the research conducted at ALMA, which examines the coldest and darkest regions of the universe, where new stars are born and where cosmic phenomena often remain hidden to the naked eye. Thanks to the 66 high-precision antennas of the telescope, ALMA reveals images with unprecedented clarity, even sharper than those provided by the Hubble Space Telescope.

The artistic collective, led by brothers Andrea and Octavio Gana, will perform a live series of instruments, while visual projections, created by artist Marco Martinez, will bring cosmic atmospheres to life in real time, responding to the music and laser light. Through this work, the collective explores themes such as Singularity, the Event Horizon, the Expansion of the Universe, Protoplanetary Disks, and Black Holes, subjects at the heart of ALMA’s research, offering a fascinating sensory experience that merges art and science in a tribute to the invisible. This is an experience not to be missed during the festival.

Delight Lab

Delight Lab is a collective and studio focused on art, design, and experimentation around light, space, and sound, formed by two brothers: visual and sound artist Andrea Gana (Bachelor’s in Art and Aesthetics from PUC, 1985) and designer, artist, and poet Octavio Gana (Designer from U.Ch., 1983). The collective originated in 2009 with their first videomapping project, which was also the first of its kind in Chile, projected onto the façade of the Museum of Contemporary Art as part of their respective graduation projects at each of their universities. In 2014, they won the Audience Award with the work Ritual Hain in the international competition at the Moscow Light Festival Circle of Light.

Some of his most notable works and collaborations include Geometría de las Esporas, Fulgor, Raíz, Navas, Horizontes en Fuga, Sonpendular, and Adoradores del Sol. He was invited by Delight Lab to work on the audiovisual concert Horizontes en Fuga in commemoration of the first 10 years of the ALMA Observatory.
