In this last documentary before his death, the famous screenwriter Jean-Claude Carrière travels across Spain as he talks about the painter Francisco de Goya, whom he has always admired. Between a few personal memories, such as his collaborations with the Spanish director Luis Buñuel, Carrière tells us how Goya anticipated modernity through his pictorial style and the subjects that preoccupied him: war, migration, disability (Goya was deaf), and above all, the stigmata of this mad world. Through interviews and breathtaking landscapes, Carrière invites you to explore human genius by showing Goya’s work and the key places that have marked his own life.
