Giulia, a young art history student, begins an internship as a gallery guard in a contemporary art museum. She is assigned to a room housing a peculiar artwork she is unfamiliar with: a self-moving robot crafted from an old television, which communicates by displaying fragments of films on its screen.

Giacomo Piperno began his filmmaking journey at 12 with the documentary Il Bersagliere della Discordia (2011), a film exploring the Porta Pia Bersagliere monument in Rome, later selected for MyGiffoni 2012 at the Giffoni Film Festival. By secondary school, he had created 12 amateur short films, and in 2014, he joined professional sets, assisting on Maj Hasager’s We Will Meet in the Blind Spot.

He holds a degree in Arts, Media, and Society from Leiden University (2020) and a Master’s in New Media and Digital Culture from Utrecht University (2021). Post-graduation, Piperno carved a niche as a filmmaker for commercials and corporate videos, collaborating with brands like Hermès, Bosch, and Match Worn Shirt.

In 2022, he served as Assistant director of photography on Giovanni Piperno’s documentaries Cipria (40th Turin Film Festival) and 16 Millimetri alla Rivoluzione (41st Turin Film Festival). In 2023, he directed PERSO Short Jail, a documentary about seven female inmates serving as a special jury for the Perugia Social Film Festival.

In 2024, Piperno wrote and directed Untitled #1, a short film exploring the relationship between an art museum intern and a robotic artwork using the autonomous Video Machine Mobile” by the contemporary artist Donato Piccolo.
