Human beings have become war machines, an unstoppable force of destruction for everything around them. Is there still hope for the future, or are we trapped in an endless nightmare?

Donato Sansone
Donato Sansone was born in Bella, in the province of Potenza, on October 18, 1974. After graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, he attended the Animation Department of the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Turin, where he graduated, specializing in experimental animation and compositing of animation and live action techniques. Since the early 2000s, he began making short films, video clips for Italian and international musicians (including Afterhours, Subsonica, Verdena, Max Cooper), as well as commercials for important agencies. With his Videogioco (2009) he achieved great fame beyond the borders of Italy: it was reviewed in the pages of the prestigious magazine “Cahiers du cinéma” and, in 2011, the Cinémathèque québécoise included it among the 50 short films that changed the history of animation. In 2014, his Grotesque photobooth was included among the 20 videos of the year by Saatchi & Saatchi in the showcase of the Cannes International Festival of Creativity. In November 2015, he made the short film Journal animé produced by Canal+ for the “Collection dessine toujours” and in November 2016 he was among the finalists of the César Award and was included in the list of 70 short films competing for the Oscars. In June 2018, his video Ghost Crash went viral on Facebook, reaching 220 million views. In May 2019 — produced by Autour de minuit, with the support of Canal+ — the anthology DVD Milkyeyes was released in France, which collects his works made from 2003 to 2018. In 2020, his Bavure was among the twelve finalists of the César Award. In July of the same year he created the videomapping The Mole Play on the Mole Antonelliana in Turin for the 20th anniversary of the National Cinema Museum. He then worked on the special effects of the series Anna by Niccolò Ammaniti. In 2022 he was commissioned by the Chicago agency Highdive to make the commercial for the American TV of the NHL hockey playoffs. His films have been selected in the most important animation film festivals (Annecy, Anima Mundi, Hiroshima) and are present on many international specialized sites (Wtashmedia tv, Wreativeapplications.net, Wotiongraphics.nu, Wired.com, Vimeo Staff Picks and many others). Some of his short films are produced and distributed by the French company Autour de minuit, while for other works, since 2020 Sansone has collaborated artistically with the Italian production company Myboss Srl. Canal+ in 2013, Sky Arte in 2014, and the program Tracks di Arte in 2020, have made documentaries about his work.
