Curator’s Note:
For too long, humanity has viewed itself as a separate species, building walls that divide it from the “others”. The selection of films at the inaugural edition of the OFFFFFFFIFFFFFFFA highlights creators who demonstrate through their works that in the future, borders are relics of the past to be transcended. This dizzying program plunges you into a new world of imagery and propels us into a new era where flows, passages, and fluidity are the norm. In these creative spaces, it’s the “blur” that prevails. Virtual and physical realities merge, interdisciplinarity is standard, humanity is considered part of a broader ecosystem, and visual boundaries are shattered. Following Alain Bashung’s Vertige de l’amour, discover the vertigo of the day after tomorrow: a future that reaches out to us but which we struggle to imagine today. It’s dizzying, but it feels good.
- David Combe
David Combe holds degrees in ethnology and political science, and is a journalist and presenter for various media outlets (TF1, TV5 Monde, Paris Première, W9, and Fréquence Paris Plurielle). He served as the editor-in-chief for Tracks, Arte’s unruly cultural magazine, for over 20 years. Through various projects, he has helped bring alternative cultures to light, notably as the designer and artistic director of La Nuit Immersive (selected at the Avignon Festival), and the Gathering of Off-Track Worlds. He has also directed several documentaries such as L’Apocalypse, ça va bien se passer (2012) and Crash Test (2024). He has served on juries (Arte/Beaux-Arts Magazine Prize, Urban Art Fair, Digital Baths Biennale, etc.) and has conducted lectures on counter-cultures, curiosity, and journalism at CELSA, Sciences Po, and FIFA. Additionally, he has taught media and culture relations at École W, Université Panthéon-Assas, and Rubika. He is the author of an essay on cultural journalism. In 2023, along with the former editorial team of Tracks, I created Spark, an independent media dedicated to unconventional cultures.
