With image as its medium, an album as its format, and music and dance as its disciplines, the new project co-created by artists Frédérick Gravel and Jean-Christophe Yacono (yako) draws on the choreographic material of Gravel’s previous works.
The result is a work that engages an intimate relationship between the camera and the dancing body. The camera’s objective point of view creates a direct link with the audience, transporting them into the heart of the choreographic experience. The live music and the sound ambiance giving us access to the voice, the breath, the movement or the friction of the dancers’ feet amplify the performative dimension of a living work. We are here and now.

Frédérick Gravel est diplômé du Département de danse de l’Université du Québec à Montréal où il déposait, en 2009, son mémoire de maîtrise portant sur « le rôle de l’artiste en danse dans la société démocratique ». Chorégraphe, danseur, musicien, éclairagiste, il bouscule les structures de l’art chorégraphique et y intègre divers éléments liés au rock et à la performance. Créateur associé à la compagnie DLD dès 2010, il en est nommé directeur artistique en 2018.

Jean-Christophe Yacono (yako) est un artiste visuel multimédia franco-canadien. Photographe, vidéaste, directeur photo, auteur d’œuvres interactives et numériques pour petits et très grands écrans et espaces publics, sa pratique par une image photographique ou animée.
Ses réalisations ont été présentées, entre autres, à la Biennale d’Art numérique (BIAN), au Festival International du Film sur l’Art (FIFA), au Festival du Nouveau Cinéma (FNC), au Cirque du Soleil, au studio ArTV de la PdA, au Centre Pompidou (Beaubourg-CNAC), au Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec et à la galerie Centrale Powerhouse.
