Hairy
Anka Schmid
Trailer
Hairy, tame, and sensual, human hair is examined with a fine-tooth comb in this humorous and subtle documentary by Swiss artist Anka Schmid. The sophisticated mix of real footage, archival footage and animated sequences, punctuated by autobiographical excerpts, offers a fascinating look at the hairy parts of the body in everyday life, in art and in revolt. This vast flow of images offers a thread of discussion with works by artists such as Cindy Sherman or Manon, who connect art to politics by using skin and hair. They testify to the social impact of hair and bring us back to the artistic career of the director who, while still a student, had already animated hearts made of curly hair on female breasts.
