Art brut, la dernière terra incognita

The so-called ​“art brut” now seems to be a passion throughout the art world, from museums to auction houses. It is exhibited and sold at ever-increasing prices, and attracts an ever-wider public. Defined by Jean Dubuffet in 1945 as the art of self-taught artists free of artistic culture. Art brut advocates the formation of new languages, inventions and techniques.

But what exactly is Art Brut? Who are its creators? Why are their works suddenly so successful, and why do they touch us so deeply?
