This captivating documentary delves into a Virgin of the Spindle whose authorship could be attributed to Leonardo da Vinci. Original or copy? An oil painting on wood, the Virgin of the Spindle is a small-sized artwork depicting the Virgin, draped in blue, cradling the infant Jesus against her breast, with her gaze raised towards the cross formed at the end of a spindle.

The painting, of which there are several versions, including one displayed in Scotland, is it the work of Leonardo da Vinci? Dating back to the early 16th century, it disappears from records for three hundred years until its reappearance in the art market in the early 19th century. Having passed through the hands of various collectors, the work has long been considered a high-quality copy produced within the workshop led by the Renaissance master.
