How do you survive the tragic loss of a child? Suse Lowenstein was confronted with this question when she lost her son Alex in the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie (Scotland) in 1988. She finds her answer in art and sculpture. Lowenstein found an outlet for her pain and that of so many other grieving mothers in the creation of a monumental work called “Dark Elegy”. Her sculpture depicts women contorted in pain at the news of the death of their child. The documentary directed with great sensitivity by Jill Campbell, pays tribute to art and its life-saving power.
