Tabaski
Laurence Attali
A few days before the feast of Tabaski in Dakar, a painter takes to his studio to work on the theme of the ritual. This hybrid film melds fiction, art and politics. It is loosely inspired by the works of painter Iba Ndiaye, who immortalized the political assassinations of post-colonial Africa and segregationist countries. In the words of the artist, “Painting is remembering.”
