In the 1920s, the artist László Moholy-Nagy was a visionary teacher at the famous Bauhaus school in Germany. This documentary traces Moholy-Nagy’s journey at the iconic institution until his departure for the United States in 1937, where he will found the New Bauhaus. Featuring archival images and interviews, this film by Alysa Nahmias immerses us in a period of great dynamism in the history of architecture and design.

Alysa Nahmias

Alysa Nahmias’ debut feature documentary Unfinished Spaces, won a 2012 Independent Spirit Award and numerous festival prizes, and it is in the permanent collection of MoMA. Her work as a director and producer has premiered at Sundance, SxSW, Sheffield Doc/​Fest, and the Berlinale. Nahmias is an advisor at Sundance Catalyst Forum and Film Independent Global Media Makers program. She holds degrees from New York University and Princeton University and is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Her production company Ajna Films is based in Los Angeles.
