Heartbeat of the City | New collection on ARTS.FILM
Image from the film Mercuriales
This week, we offer you an exploration of urban and architectural landscapes. In Mercuriales, a remarkable film by Virgil Vernier presented in the ACID selection at Cannes in 2014, myths and skyscrapers blend to create a dreamlike work. In Détours, the filmmaker Ekaterina Selenkina, who is actively against the war in Ukraine, captures the suburbs of Moscow — an area that is both political and poetic, traversed by a desperate dealer. Thousands of kilometers away, the enigmatic character of The Walking Man roams Rome, navigating social and spatial boundaries. Here are three works, three walks. And if you’re more interested in Brussels, Johannesburg, Berlin, or Beijing, we’ve got you covered.
You’re lucky to have found us… (and we’re lucky to count you among us, though was it really necessary to mention it?)
