Le FIFA represent Canada at the Cultural Olympiad Paris 2024

Fifa Xccc Xolympiade3

The International Festival of Films on Art (Le FIFA) and the Canadian Cultural Centre in Paris (CCC), partners in Canada’s cultural representation at Paris 2024, are pleased to present two film programs that have been officially recognized as part of the Paris 2024 Cultural Olympiad. This initiative perfectly illustrates Le FIFA’s vision of promoting films on art and the media arts as essential vectors of cultural and human expression.

The program presentations will take place during major cultural events in Paris, such as the European Museum Night (May 18), the Nuit Blanche (June 1) and the Around the World in a Day” (July 20), providing a prestigious stage for the selected works. A commitment to Parisian cultural festivities that underlines FIFA’s desire to build bridges between cultures and actively participate in the international cultural dynamic in the run-up to the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The spirit of the Cultural Olympiad

In line with the principles established by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Cultural Olympiad offers a unique platform where sport and culture coexist and mutually nourish each other. This symbiosis, which is based on the conviction of the founder of the modern Olympic Games, Pierre de Coubertin, that muscle and spirit go hand in hand”, finds particular resonance in the projects presented by Le FIFA. The Bodies in Motion” and Art in Motion” programs proposed within this framework, embody this fusion between physical élan and artistic eloquence, in phase with the aspirations of the Paris 2024 Games. The Games are open, participative and inclusive, where every player on the cultural and sporting scene is invited to contribute to this great celebration.

Programs in dialogue with the Cultural Olympiad

The programs carefully selected by Le FIFA and the Canadian Cultural Centre, Bodies in Motion” and Art in Motion”, offer a profound exploration of the themes of resilience, diversity and self-affirmation through art. Echoing the Cultural Olympiad, these selections aim to foster encounters between artists, athletes and new audiences, drawing on universal values and offering unique perspectives on the complexity of humanity and the beauty of movement.

A platform for innovation and dialogue

Le FIFA’s participation in the Cultural Olympiad Paris 2024 bears witness to its desire to be part of a global movement that goes beyond the boundaries of art to touch the very essence of our shared humanity. By bringing artists and audiences closer together, FIFA helps to build cultural bridges and foster deeper understanding between different communities. The commitment of the Canadian Cultural Centre in Paris and the official Cultural Olympiad Paris 2024” label for the programs presented reinforce this ambition, marking a significant step forward in the international influence of art film.

Programme
L’art en mouvement
81 minutes

For too long, art in motion has been reserved for bodies standardized by a set of restrictive rules that have led to an idealization and representation of perfection” that is as much aesthetic as it is technical and performative. Yet each body is also a vehicle for both intimacy and politics. This program of films shows us fabulous bodies and minds in all their variety, expression and poetics, and celebrates this diversity which is also ours.
