Follow superstar Ava Gardner’s rise and fall. At the height of her glory in 1954 she had a tumultuous love life and a string of legendary movies behind her. But when she turned 28 she left the glitz and glamor to move to Madrid, a poor and repressed country in the iron vice of dictatorship.
It was a clash between the freedom embodied by the Hollywood diva and the Fascist oppression of General Franco’s regime, between the technicolor glamor and the black-and-white reality of an impoverished and backward Spain. Fourteen years of life there, of parties, booze, romance, and alegria.
The film sets out to probe the psychological and emotional quirks of this star who chose exile in the worst of places at the worst of times.
Her life, her career, and her loves would be changed forever.
