Née en 1957 dans le sud de la France, elle a grandi dans un département d’outre-mer français appelé Île de la Réunion dans l’océan Indien. Elle a étudié l’art en France (1975−1979) et à Boston (1980−1986) où elle a commencé à réaliser des films en 1982 après avoir suivi un cours du soir de cinéma au Massachusetts College of Art puis s’être inscrite à temps plein à la School of Museum of Fine Arts, se spécialisant en cinéma. Elle est retournée en France en 1986 et vit depuis lors à Paris, enseignant l’art à plein temps dans une école primaire et réalisant des films.
