Ondes et silences

Ondes et silences

Karl Lemieux, David Bryant

2015 | 14 min
Presented only in theatres.

This film is part of the program Carte Blanche à Concordia Parcours / Pathways.

The directors of Ondes et silence take us into the world of citizens suffering from electromagnetic hypersensitivity. These wave refugees” have settled in West Virginia, near the Green Bank Observatory, in the area known as the National Radio Quiet Zone.” Blurring the lines between documentary, cinematic essay, science fiction, and experimental film, Ondes et silence defies genres and weaves a unique narrative in which the visual and sound treatment transforms reality — allowing us not only to understand but, more importantly, to feel the suffering and distress of electro-sensitive individuals.
This intricate work on image and sound generates hallucinatory cinematic moments — instances of grace where the viewer is led to see electromagnetic waves take shape in the environment, pass through house walls, and invade space with their powerful vibrations. Known notably for their work with the musical collective Godspeed You! Black Emperor, David Bryant and Karl Lemieux deliver a strikingly immersive sensory experience!
