Latvian violinist and orchestra conductor Gidon Kremer (born 1947) is one of the greatest violinists of the twentieth century. As an original and masterful performer, he is a shining light in the world of classical music. This observational documentary gives Kremer a voice and depicts a poised and reflective man, impervious to the affectations of celebrity. For a year, director Paul Smaczny followed the great conductor as he led his Kremerata Baltica Chamber Orchestra in Paris and performed as a soloist in Moscow and Tokyo. A splendid portrait of a free and committed artist.
