Photographer and filmmaker Alice Kohl offers a glimpse inside the world of French artist Juliette Feck, who lives and works in Marseille. In both carefully constructed scenes and those filmed on the fly, the young artist compellingly evokes the highs and lows of her experience. Whether presenting an image to the camera or candidly sharing her thoughts, Juliette draws us into the thick of her reflections and emotions; at times she is vulnerable, feeling threatened by everything, and at others, she is high on the joy of creating and exhibiting her works. Between hope and disillusionment, struggles and dreams, she remains determined to follow her calling. An intimate portrait melding myth and reality, this work focuses on an emerging artist as she questions the nature of art and what it means to be an artist.

Alice Khol
Following a Masters degree in Communication Studies and a BA in Cinema at the University of Rennes II in France, Alice Khol moved to Brussels and graduated from the Agnès Varda photography school in 2012. At the same time, she worked for several film festivals in Belgium for which she managed coordination and programming.
In 2015, she directed her first documentary short film Cure, around her sister’s work as a nurse, which enjoyed a nice circulation in festivals. She also directed a series of video-portraits of Belgian poets and a dozen musical clips for Belgian artists. Early 2020 she published 365 degree (of love), a book where she associates collected love stories and photographies. Juliette The Great is her second short documentary.
Constantly sharpening her gaze, navigating between video and photography, Alice Khol focuses on the notions of intimacy and portrait. She observes the poetry of small everyday events where reality turns into fiction.
