If Vincent Van Gogh’s work has stood the test of time, it is largely thanks to the efforts of his sister-in-law and heir, Johanna Bonger Van Gogh. Although she only knew him during the last two months of his life, she dedicated a significant portion of her existence to promoting his painting. Alone and with relentless determination, she managed to introduce his extraordinarily powerful body of work to an initially unreceptive audience, which would inspire a new generation of artists and change the face of modern art. Through the unique and deeply human perspective of this forgotten figure, the film recounts the moving story of Van Gogh’s final months and his legacy.
