Le FIFA GUEST OF HONOR AT THE NATIONAL GALLERY OF SINGAPORE

SPECIAL SCREENING OF QUEBEC DANCE FILMS | From Caroline Monnet to Édouard Lock!

The International Festival of Films on Art (Le FIFA) is the guest of honor at the National Gallery of Singapore from September 4 to 14, 2025, where, for one of the first times in the history of this prestigious museum generally devoted to South Asian art, Quebec cinema will be highlighted.

As part of this unique collaboration, artistic director Philippe U. Del Drago was invited to put together a program of five Quebec dance films to be screened in a dedicated space for Le FIFA.

Tens of thousands of visitors will have the opportunity to discover the work of our creators, iconic figures in Quebec, free of charge: Caroline Monnet with her film PIDIKWE, Édouard Lock with ÉCHO, Chélanie Beaudin-Quintin with À BRAS-LE-CORPS, Simon Vermeulen with SAINT-RÉMI and Kaveh Nabatian with PRISON OF THE SUN.

For the first time in its six-year history, Painting with Light festival is offering a space dedicated to a foreign organization.

It should be noted that Chantal Carons film MARÉE NOIRE is also part of the program in the Ngee Ann Kongsi auditorium.

This invitation from the National Gallery of Singapore is an absolutely exceptional opportunity. It offers local artists the rare chance to be showcased in one of the most prestigious venues in South Asia, through an installation entirely dedicated to them. I had the pleasure of collaborating with a passionate team at the Gallery and seeing these films take their place in a setting open to all, where the voices of our territories intertwine — from the streets of Montreal to the St. Lawrence River, from mining landscapes to Indigenous heritage. These works speak to us, to this dizzying urge to give a voice to bodies, in their multiplicity and in all the poetic spaces they can inhabit. It is a true panorama of filmed dance from here that will unfold in Singapore as part of the Painting with Light Festival,” said Philippe U. del Drago, Executive and Artistic Director of Le FIFA who will be present for a post-screening discussion, sept. 6th at 7:30pm.
