Le FIFA is pleased to announce a reinvented approach to programming on its platform ARTS.FILM. More intimate, more accessible and resolutely focused on cultural and educational enrichment, ARTS.FILM’s new curatorial dynamic supports Le FIFA’s mission to democratize access to art and culture.

This season, ARTS.FILM revitalizes its impressive catalog of over 600 films and introduces a new offering of free films every month, starting in October.

A NEW CURATORIAL VISION

Paul Rothé has been working in the independent film world since completing his master’s degree at Sciences Po Toulouse, culminating in a research thesis entitled Habiter la ville nouvelle dans Les nuits de la pleine lune et L’ami de mon amie d’Éric Rohmer. After working as a critic, script reader and member of selection committees at festivals such as Cinéma du Réel (Première Fenêtre section), he joined the mk2 Curiosity platform as a programmer. In 2023, he left Paris for Montreal, where he joined FIFA. He joined the selection committee and took charge of the FIFA Connexions professional days.

With the appointment of Paul Rothé as head of programming, ARTS.FILM has injected a new dynamic into the program, with thematic weekly collections that reflect the ambition to make the art film platform a crossroads where every visitor can discover a passion for art, through films that not only entertain but also enlighten and inspire.

DIVERSITY AND ACCESSIBILITY AT THE HEART OF PROGRAMMING

The new season will highlight works dealing with subjects as diverse as dance, cinema, architecture and urban planning, while incorporating contemporary themes such as American politics and social movements.

Among the season’s highlights is Ramzi Ben Slimans new Grand Hôtel Barbès, a co-production with the Opéra de Paris that highlights the urban choreographic arts in a surprising marriage with the world of dance and classical music. The Witches of the Orient by Julien Faraut, a film celebrating the links between sport and art through the story of a Japanese women’s volleyball team. Artists featured this season include Matisse, Fellini, Barbara Streisand, and Marina Abramovic, promising a rich and varied exploration of contemporary art and culture.

A SPORTY AUTUMN OPENING

Following the unifying spirit of the recent Olympic Games, the first collection of the season, entitled Let’s Warm Up, encourages the public to rediscover the art of movement. Through films that celebrate sport in all its forms, from urban dance to martial arts, ARTS.FILM demonstrates that art transcends galleries and theaters to vibrate everywhere in our lives.
