The Animal Kingdom | New collection on ARTS.FILM

This week, in addition to celebrating your aunt Marie-Marise’s party, we are also observing World Animal Day. The opportunity was too good to pass up, so we invite you to explore how art has engaged with our animal friends.

In Mirement / Le jardin, la ménagerie, director Geneviève Chevalier addresses the issue of biodiversity loss, drawing on images from the bird specimen collections at London’s Natural History Museum. In Pas si bêtes !, Antonella Fenech and Laurent Védrine delve into premodern art collections, questioning how artists across the ages have perceived and represented animals. In Gujiga, Sunjha Kim reflects on the birth of turtles and their symbolism through a poetic narrative.
