Artist Laurence Beaudoin Morin explores the act and art of falling, highlighting three interwoven aspects: physical risk, cultural metaphor and the promise of renewal. Falling is present everywhere in our daily lives, often integrated almost unconsciously. While Western culture tends to resist the fall, rather aspiring to moral verticality, Achronie II : la chute proposes an exploration of the theme through performances executed in a suspended context, itself associated with a place whose initial vocation has given way to a void where the artist engages to reveal some traces.
With this short film in which she is the sole protagonist, Laurence Beaudoin Morin presents a paradoxical narrative. She pursues her research on the concept of achrony — an existential conception of time, focusing on our experience through successive states of consciousness and external changes.

La pratique de Laurence Beaudoin Morin s’intéresse au territoire et, en déplaçant les éléments qui le composent, cherche à assembler des poèmes visuels. La performance, la vidéo et la peinture sont les moyens qu’elle emploie pour raconter son, et notre, expérience des espaces. Par cette association de gestes il s’agit de révéler voire de suspendre le processus de création afin de structurer le temps, d’attirer le regard sur l’à peine visible. L’aléatoire, l’accident, le danger, la catastrophe… les scènes suggèrent ou mettent en œuvre le mouvement. Elles évoquent les prémisses, l’attente et les résultantes d’un processus dynamique qui semble parfois braver les lois de la physique. Laurence est titulaire d’une maitrise en arts visuels à l’UQAM et d’un baccalauréat à l’Université Concordia. Elle est fondatrice du projet des auto-workshops de performance en terrain vague et fait partie de l’équipe du Performance Art Studies où elle facilite des ateliers de performance auprès d’artistes locaux et internationaux.
