This film will be presented during the La Nuit de la danse event on March 21st, 2025 at Théâtre Outremont.
This choreographed film explores the relationship between humanity and water, inspired by the recently UNESCO-listed “Central Axis of Beijing”. Drawing from Chinese mythology, the narrative focuses on Waning Bridge, beneath which reside four legendary dragons that control the water. Through visually stunning dance, the film seamlessly merges choreography and video, where each movement of the performer is enhanced by breathtaking visual effects and meticulously crafted costumes. More than just a dance recording, it creates a unique atmosphere where aesthetics and visual art come to life in perfect harmony. This film offers a fresh perspective on Chinese culture.
Director’s statement:
In September 2024, UNESCO inscribed the “Central Axis of Beijing” on the World Heritage List. The Central Axis embodies the traditional Chinese city planning principles and the philosophical concepts of “Centrality” and “Harmony,” marking a significant contribution to the history of global urban planning. Situated along this axis is an ancient stone bridge, Waning Bridge, under which four mythical water-controlling dragons reside. This film takes inspiration from these four mythical creatures, weaving a romantic and enchanting Eastern fantasy that explores the relationship between humanity and water.
